Lamnidis Law Advises Wootis Group in Landmark Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Transaction in Greece

Lamnidis Law is pleased to announce its role as legal advisor to the Wootis Group of companies in a landmark transaction that marks the largest agreement in the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sector in Greece. The transaction involved the acquisition of a 51% stake in the share capital of ΕΚ BESS (a subsidiary of the Wootis Group) by the Spanish company Fotovatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), a leader in the renewable energy sector.
This strategic partnership aims to leverage FRV’s extensive international experience in renewable energy projects across five continents, including the construction, management, and operation of BESS projects. FRV’s involvement is expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of ΕΚ BESS and accelerate the development and deployment of innovative energy storage solutions in Greece.
ΕΚ BESS currently holds eight storage licenses with a total capacity of 600 MW, positioning it as a major player in Greece’s burgeoning energy storage market. The collaboration between Wootis Group and FRV also includes the development of additional BESS projects with a planned capacity of 300 MW, further solidifying their commitment to advancing Greece's renewable energy infrastructure.
