Olympia and Taraz Unite in a Historic Twinning Agreement to Promote Olympic Ideals

Olympia (Greece) and Taraz (Kazakhstan) signed a Twinning Agreement, vowing to strive together for the Olympic Ideals of friendship, peace and fellowship between the people. Mayor of Olympia Giorgos Georgiopoulos and Mayor of Taraz Bakhytzhan Orynbekov signed the Twinning Agreement at the Olympia archeological site, in front of the Temple of Hera. The International Olympic Academy and the Mayor of Olympia hosted the historic event, which was organized by Ηis Excellency, Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Hellenic Republic and the Hellenic Kazakh Business Council members (Thomas Lamnidis, Zhaxybek Kulikev, Giorgos Theodorakis, Spyros Zannias). Following the twinning, Olympia and Taraz will cooperate for joint actions in the fields of tourism, industry, science and education, public services and infrastructure.
